The process is very simple. Here you become a member and then place ads in the various sections. This works in a way similar to the traditional classified ad in a newspaper.

This method is similar to traditional classified ads because:

• The book or item will always remain in your possession until you make a transaction with the buyer personally.
• The Virtual Student Bookstore consists of various sections among which you may choose to place ads.
  • For Example: If you want to sell something you own you would place an ad in the For sale. The ad would be categorized under either the book, material or equipment section according to a school or region.

This differs from the traditional classified ad in many ways:

• Lower cost. Your ad remains here for much longer period than the traditional ad for half the cost.
• Instant results. Using e-mail the buyer can contact you immediately while viewing your ad.
• No hassle. Once your product is sold, your ad is removed immediately upon contacting Sabotek, thus preventing unwanted responses.
• No interruptions. E-mail will never interrupt your home like phone calls do.
• Each section is categorized by a geographical region. This is done by classifying the ad under a particular school or region.

How to place an ad:

• Create a membership account

  The first thing that must be done in order to place an ad is to create an account. The account can be created by filling out the registration form. Once this information is entered and processed, you will be given a member number that must be used each time you place an ad. The membership account is good for one session.

• Enter book or item information

  Once you have received your member number, book or item information must be placed in the for sale ad form. Ad information will not appear in the database until payment is received. (When a payment is required)

  All information must be entered as completely as possible in order to establish the proper placement of the book or item in the advertising section.

  • For a book:
    • Title
    • Authors
    • Publisher
    • Year
    • Edition
  • For an item:
    • Specify category
      • Materials - Things like teacher notes, class notes, exams etc.
      • Equipment - Apparatus for experiment, protective goggles, silk screen equipment etc.

What kind of ad to place:

• If you are selling a book or item
  • Place a 'For Sale' ad
• If you wish to purchase a book or item
  • Place a 'Wanted' ad

• WANTED - First check out the wanted ads and see if you can find a buyer for the item you are selling. If you don't find a buyer you can visit our customer service center to register and place an ad in the for sale section.

• CREATE AN ACCOUNT - This allows you to become a member and place an ad that will appear in the for sale section. This allows a buyer to contact you and purchase what you are selling.

The Wanted section

The 'Wanted' section contains a list of students who are looking for something in particular. You can freely browse through the section at anytime. It won't cost you anything!

If you find that someone is looking for the book or item you are selling...

There are a few simple steps:

1. Notify them by phone or e-mail that you want to sell them the book or item that they are looking for. This is done by selecting the link to the member number in the ad listings. This will either give you a pop-up box with the member's contact phone number or an e-mail form from which you can instantly notify them.
2. Set a selling price with the buyer.
3. Arrange a meeting with the buyer. (Always remember your safety - arrange to meet the buyer in a busy public place.)
4. Meet with the buyer to pay for and receive the book or item.

You have just sold your book or item by the easiest method in the world, saving you time and money.

The For Sale section

If you don't find a buyer for your book or item...

You can register & pay for an ad in the For Sale section. (Free for a limited time only) Ads can currently be place free of charge during the introductory period which may end without further notice.

Registering a book ad.

When you register an ad for the book you are selling, it is placed in the 'For Sale' section. This is done only once and your book ad remains in the database until it is sold or withdrawn. (You never have to pay to put this same book in the database again - This currently does not apply to the free introductory offer.)

Registering an item ad.

When you register an item, it is placed in the 'For Sale' section. This is done once a session, and your item remains in the database until the end of that session.

Once you have registered, all you have to do is wait to be notified by a buyer.

When a buyer wants to purchase the book or item you are selling...

There are a few simple steps:

1. You will be notified by your preferred method (telephone or e-mail) that someone is interested in buying the book or item.

You arrange a meeting with the buyer. (Always remember your safety - arrange to meet the buyer in a busy public place.)

1. Meet with the buyer and give them the book or item and receive your payment.
2. Notify Sabotek by or by phone at (514)255-9517 that you have sold your book or item. (This will remove your book or item from the database and will prevent you from receiving more phone calls or e-mail.)

You have just sold your book by the easiest method in the world saving you time and money.

During the introductory period, in order to place an ad you will have to pay the following:

• Membership Fee(For the current session - One membership per person)
• Advertising Fee (For a limited number of ads)
  • With membership, place 5 For Sale ads for free.
    (The 6th ad is subject to regular fees)
  • With membership, place 1 Wanted ad for free.
    (The 2nd ad is subject to regular fees)

Once the introductory period is over, in order to place an ad you will have to pay the following:

• Membership Fee (once a session)
• Advertising Fee (depends on type of ad to be placed)

Membership Fee

You will be paying a $5.00 membership fee for each session that you wish to place ads in. Once the membership fee is paid, you can place as many ads as you want during the session.

A year has been divided into 3 sessions:

Session 1: December-January-February-March

Session 2: April-May-June-July

Session 3: August-September-October-November

Advertising Fee

The costs per ad will vary depending on which type of ad you are placing.

Textbook ad in the 'For Sale' section will remain indefinitely until the book is sold or the ad is withdrawn. This means you only have to pay to advertise a textbook once.

Other types of ads will remain in the database throughout one session, no matter when the ad was place during the session. This means the earlier that you advertise the longer your ad will be displayed for.

• Costs to advertise in the 'For Sale' section:

  If you are selling either a book, material or equipment the amount you pay is based on the selling price of the book or item (not how much you originally paid for it). The selling price is what you are selling the book or item for.

• Costs to advertise in the 'Wanted' section

  If you are placing an ad in order to find and buy a book, materials or equipment there are 2 rates:

  1. Book $3.00
  2. Material or Equipment $5.00
     
  • For a book you must specify as much of the following info about what you are looking for:
    • Title
    • Authors
    • Publisher
    • Year
    • Edition
  • For an item:
    • Specify which category:
      • Materials - Things like teacher notes, class notes, exams etc.
      • Equipment - Apparatus for experiment, protective goggles, silk screen equipment etc.
    • A short description of the item - (25 word or less)
